Workforce Training Fund information session

The ValleyWorks Career Center and Northern Essex Community College in partnership with the Greater Newburyport Chamber of Commerce invite local employers to a Workforce Training Fund Informational Session on Friday, April 27, from 8:30 to 10 a.m. This session provides an opportunity to learn more about the recent changes to the WTF and the state funding opportunities available through the Massachusetts Workforce Training Fund (WTF). The WTF program enables businesses to provide training and development opportunities for their employees. This session is free and will focus on the NEW guidelines for the WTF General, Express and Hiring Incentive Grants. Michael Corcoran, Supervisor of Operations at the State Department of Workforce Development, will present a 90 minute information-packed session to help Massachusetts companies determine which grants are most appropriate and available for their employees training needs. The session will be held at Zampell Companies, 3 Stanley Tucker Drive in the Newburyport Industrial Park, Newburyport. In addition, a three-hour workshop will be offered on May 16 to those companies that are ready to apply for a WTF General Program Grant. It is highly recommended the interested businesses attend the 90 minute informational session before the workshop. You must pre-register to attend. Memorial Day Parade

The annual Memorial Day Parade will be on Monday, May 28 at 10a.m. Any civic patriot or fraternal organization wishing to march should contact the Veterans' Services Office at 978-623-8218. There will be collation at the Doherty Middle School cafeteria at 11:30 for all parade participants. As per custom, no political activity can be accommodated in and during the parade. The route leads from the intersection of Elm and Florence Streets to Main Street, to Punchard Avenue, Bartlet Street and ends at the Park. In the event of heavy rain, all observances will be held inside the Memorial Auditorium.
