Holiday concert
The United States Air Force Band of Liberty will play a Christmas Concert on Thursday, Dec. 3, at 7 p.m. at the Collins Center, 80 Shawsheen Road, Andover. The director of Veterans' Services is hosting this patriotic concert.
This is a free concert but tickets are required. Stop by the Veterans Office or mail a self-addressed stamped envelope to the Veterans Office before Nov. 25. Indicate how many tickets you need. There is a limit of six tickets per request. For more information call the Veterans Office at 978-623-8218. Tickets are also available at the Andover Senior Center.
Take a hike - and see ponds of Harold Parker
Explore the back trails of Harold Parker State Forest and check out the Salem, Sudden, and Stearns ponds on Sunday, Nov. 22 from 1 to 4 p.m..
The planned hike is a loop hike, approximately 4 miles long. Meet at 1 p.m. at the Ranger Station on Salem Street/Middleton Road, Andover.

IRS sees sunny future
Forget its auditing power, the Internal Revenue Service is set to add geothermal and solar-power features to its Andover building. The IRS will break ground today, Nov. 19, on construction to modernize its building off Route 133.
According to Cathy M. Menzies, communications specialist, the project "will allow IRS to expand accounts management, compliance services, and criminal investigative functions, as well as support the agency's increased use of automated technology. The project also includes green features - installation of geothermal heating and cooling systems, a new roof with a photovoltaic array, seismic repairs, window replacement, HVAC upgrades, and installation of state-of-the-art electrical equipment and energy efficient fixtures."
Girls Night Out
The Magic Parties, self-described as "an organization of women supporting women to bring their gifts and talents into the world," announces Girls Night Out: Conversations for Women That Matter. Clothes for a caues
John Anton's Cleaners at 357 North Main St., just announced its 10th annual coat drive, which will run through Dec. 31. Last year, John Anton's collected and cleaned 3,185 coats for free and distributed them to local charities, including the Lawrence Boys and Girls Club, Lazarus House, Neighbors in Need, Good Will and The Salvation Army.
"The need is always great and even greater this year with so many unemployed and the down economy. With the help of the greater community, it is our goal to surpass the number of coats collected last year for families in need," said Chuck Anton, president of John Anton's Cleaners.
Coats can be dropped off and home delivery customers can leave them for collection with their driver. For more information call 978-475-0659.
