The Massachusetts State Primary for Senator in Congress will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 8, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Precincts 1, 7 and 8 will vote at the Senior Citizen Center on Whittier Court, behind Town Offices and near the Park at the corner of Barlet and Chestnut streets. Precincts 2, 6 and 9 will vote at the Collins Field House on the left side of Andover High School, 80 Shawsheen Road.

There will be a three-party primary election on Dec. 8. The Democratic Party, Republican Party and the Libertarian Party will offer ballots on their candidates. Unenrolled voters who are not enrolled in a party or a designation may chose one of these three party ballot at the polls. Those registered in a party designation (another group that does not receive enough votes to be considered a party by the state) may not vote in a party primary.

The last day to apply for an absentee ballot for the election is noon on Dec. 7, the day before the election.

There will be a modified Route 21 election day bus shuttle the day of the election starting from the senior center on Whittier Court at 7 a.m. and finishing at 6:50 p.m. at the senior center. The route will include the senior center, Chestnut Court, Main and Central streets, Andover Commons, Andover High School, Shawsheen Plaza, Frye Circle, Doctors Park and the YMCA and will continue in a loop throughout the day.

Any previously registered voters who have changed homes or did not reply to the 2009 Annual Town Census are encouraged to call the town clerk's office to verify their voting status at 978-623-8255.

School will be in session during part of the polling hours and voters should plan on traffic delays at the start and end of the school day.
