Andover home to be reality TV star

Watch out, Honey Boo Boo. An Andover home is hitting the reality TV circuit, if only for one episode.

HGTV’s “House Hunters” was in Andover Saturday shooting segments at a three-bedroom ranch for sale at 104 Bailey Road. On the show, home buyers visit three homes and then pick one to make an offer on.

The home is listed at $369,000, according to information from agent Lisa Johnson. The episode with the Andover home will likely not be televised for several months.

Once a century performance

Barbara Bruns will perform the inaugural organ recital for the new organ at Christ Church, Central Street, on Sept. 29 at 7 p.m.

The last time a new organ was installed at Christ Church was in 1888.

Boosting the band 5 cents at a time

Residents might want to start saving their bottles and cans to help improve Andover music.

The Andover Marching Band Redeemable Bottle Drive is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 20, at the West Middle School parking lot from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Residents are encouraged to drop off their redeemable bottles and cans, and the money from those containers will help the band pay for items that it needs.

Battle of the bands stepping off soon

Speaking of the marching band, it will host, for the first time, the Massachusetts Instrumental and Choral Conductor’s Association Performance Festival at Andover High School’s Lovely Field on Sunday Oct. 7, at 1 p.m.

Five bands and their color guards, from the surrounding region compete and demonstrate their performance skills to an enthusiastic audience. Andover High’s marching band is under the direction of teacher Joseph Wright.

The public is invited to attend and support the AHS Marching Band, according to its boosters. A variety of refreshments will be available.

Be a Hater

The Tambakos Film Series is underway at the Rogers Center on the campus of Merrimack College.

Featured next Wednesday, Sept. 26 at 7 p.m. will be the 1995 French film “La Haine” or “Hate.”

“La Haine” is a black-and-white drama/suspense film written, co-edited and directed by Mathieu Kassovit. It is about three young friends and their struggle to live in the banlieues of Paris.

The title derives from a line spoken by one of them, Hubert: “La haine attire la haine” or “hatred breeds hatred.”
