More than 200 people enjoyed Breakfast with Santa plus a ride on some special horses at Andover’s Ironstone Farm on Sunday.
Ironstone welcomed the community to the free event, which included breakfast in one of the farm’s indoor arenas and a chance to meet and be photographed with the farm’s horses, which were decked out in their holiday finest for the occasion.
Ironstone Farm is home to two nonprofit organizations that benefit special needs children and adults, veterans with post-traumatic stress, cancer survivors and others. Offerings combine several traditional therapies into one program by using the power of horseback riding and the farm environment.
In addition, Ironstone offers riding lessons. Those interested in riding in the eight-week winter block must register this week.
Ironstone is currently raising funds for an expansion. Earlier this year, Andover’s Doug and Diana Berthiaume pledged to match any individual donation of $5,000 or more, up to a total of $500,000, to support the project.
