Town Talk

Bittersweet exposure

Professional freelance photographer Winslow Townson of Andover has had a very emotional week while his Boston Marathon photographs have been appearing in well-known publications. Townson was taking photographs at the Red Sox game when he was called and redirected to the Boston Marathon finish line. His Marathon photographs appeared in Sports Illustrated as well as on the front page of a Boston newspaper.

A lesson from the young

On Saturday, April 20, Ella and Ethan Waszkelewicz, with the help of their neighbors, held a lemonade stand on the corner of Tiffany Lane and Greenwood Road to raise money for The One Fund for Boston Marathon victims. They offered free lemonade and Oreos with a donation to the fund. Ella, a kindergartner, and Ethan, who is in second grade, also went through their books and picked out some to sell to raise some additional money. Despite the chilly spring day, the children — who also included Avery Murray, kindergarten, and Peyton Cavanaugh and Sona Chaudhary, both in grade 4 — raised $250. The generosity of the people that stopped made the kids so happy and they were thrilled they raised so much, mom Tracy Waszkelewicz said. Ella wrote a letter to accompany the check that was sent in and is hoping the money will help someone.
