The Andover Townsman
---- — An informational meeting to discuss plans to combat the presence of emerald ash borer in Massachusetts, including in North Andover, will be held Tuesday, Jan. 28, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Stevens Memorial Library. 345 Main St., North Andover.
At the meeting, the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, in cooperation with the Department of Agricultural Resources, the U. S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service and the USDA’s Forest Service, will address the implications surrounding the recent discovery of emerald ash borer in eastern Massachusetts.
Central to this meeting is the issue of establishing a quarantine boundary within the affected county that would restrict the movement of certain wood products under certain conditions.
The public will have the opportunity to participate in a question-and-answer session, and general feedback will be encouraged to help guide the state’s actions as it moves forward with responding to the discovery of this destructive pest.
