New book to salute area's veterans

North of Boston Media Group is creating a coffee-table book highlighting local veterans from all wars and we would like to include your photos and stories in the publication.

The book, titled “North of Boston Salute To Veterans,” will look at the men and women who served in the Civil War up to Iraq and Afghanistan, paying tribute to those who died and exploring the impact their departure had on the communities they left behind. It will showcase war photos such as military, draft, war bond drives, protests, celebrations, memorabilia, etc.

The book will be released in December and will coincide with special events featuring speakers, brunch, a slideshow and an opportunity for veterans from all wars and their families to come together and share camaraderie.

Scanning sessions have been held and to date, there is especially a need for images of men and women who served in the Vietnam, Gulf, Afghanistan and Iraq wars.

Additional photo-scanning dates are:

Monday, Aug. 12, 9 a.m. to noon, The Salem News, 32 Dunham Road, Beverly

Monday, Aug. 12, 2 to 5 p.m., The Gloucester Daily Times, 36 Whittemore St., Gloucester
