Andover eyes Tewksbury casino plans

As the future of a slots casino plays out across the town line in Tewksbury, Andover officials are working to learn more about the proposed project and its potential impact on their community.

Town Manager Reginald “Buzz” Stapczynski is expected to give an update on the Tewksbury casino proposal to the Board of Selectmen at its meeting Monday night.

In addition, a forum for Andover residents to get more details on the proposal by Penn National Gaming and to air their thoughts on it could be held as early as next week, according to selectmen Chairman Alex Vispoli.

Vispoli said town officials are hoping to bring a representative from the Massachusetts Gaming Commission to Andover to answer questions and discuss what role the town will play in the process, even though it does not have a say on whether a casino ultimately advances next door.
