The Andover Townsman
---- — Lawrence General Hospital and Pentucket Medical Associates have teamed up and plan to open a new medical facility in town later this year.
Lawrence General and Pentucket Medical will establish Andover Medical Center & ExpressCare, a new medical facility near the intersections of Route 133 and Interstate 93 in Andover, across from the Andover IRS building.
“Andover Medical Center will provide primary care, urgent care and specialty services for the local area, located close to home for residents of the Andovers and the surrounding communities,” according to a release.
“For several years, we have been working with our outstanding local physicians to expand primary and specialty care services right here in the Merrimack Valley,” Dianne J. Anderson, president and CEO of Lawrence General Hospital, said in a release. “This new center is only one way we are enhancing local access to high quality, affordable health care, and eliminating the need for patients and families to travel into Boston for key specialty services.”
The center will be 30,000 square feet and cost between $15.5 million and $16 million. Developer Sal Lupoli, president and CEO of Lupoli Companies, estimates construction will be done by the end of this year.
“Access to care that is timely and convenient is an important part of medicine’s future,” said Pentucket Medical President Thomas L. Fazio, MD. “Offering the appropriate mix of health care services in a setting close to home is an important step into this future.”
Richard Santagati, chairman of the Lawrence General Hospital Board of Trustees said, “This initiative is evidence of our Board of Trustees’ vision and commitment to a regional health care system that further enhances the quality and affordability of patient care in the Merrimack Valley region.”
