Andover water produces school of All-Americans
Andover High School Swim Coach Marilyn Fitzgerald has been notified by the National Interscholastic Swim & Dive Coaches Association that Emma Cammann, Maggie D’Innocenzo, Alexa Korsberg, Ashlee Korsberg and Rachel Moore have earned Swimming All-American honors for their work during the 2011-2012 swim season and State Champion Deborah Daly earned Diving All-American status.
All but Rachel Moore will be returning to the Blue and Gold to defend the team’s state title. The Lady Warriors have won the state crown 12 of the last 13 years. Moore will be competing at Division I University of Virginia.

ACT Andover is putting on Willy Wonka Oct. 26 through 28 and are mimicking the Golden Ticket contest made famous by the popular play and movie Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
ACT members are selling Wonka bars at events around town. They have already had two Golden Ticket winners and there are three more tickets to be found, according to Kim Sousa.
Winners receive two tickets each to a performance of Willy Wonka at the Rogers Center on the Merrimack College campus.
The bars will be sold in Andover at the performance of Sandbag at Indian Ridge Country Club on Friday, Sept. 14; and Saturday, Sept 15 at Andover Days.
Ready to meet
new people?
New to the area or looking to meet new people? There’s a club in town just for you that has planned two events for September.
The Newcomers and Neighbors Club of the Andovers is a non-profit organization that provides social events and activities for residents of Andover and North Andover. The club describes itself by saying “Joining Newcomers and Neighbors is a wonderful way to meet new people, get involved in the community, create special memories and build lasting friendships.”
The club has organized two upcoming events that will be open to the public:
Moms and Tots with Music Together will be held Wednesday, Sept. 12 at 9:30 a.m. at the North Andover Town Common; and
Family Dance Party with DJ Dee Kimball will be offered Sunday, Sept. 30 from 2 to 4 p.m., also at the North Andover Town Common.

Senior center showcasing its programs
If you are an empty nester or older resident, the senior center believes it might have a program for you. And it’s using a cable TV program to get the message across.
“Have the children left home? Do you feel some of your links to the community have changed or even lost? Do you, an adult member of the Andover community, wonder what a senior center might have for you?” writes resident Champa Bilwakesh. “If you have not visited the center lately, you will be surprised. September is the Senior Center month and the celebrations are on with an open house to showcase their new programs that are shaped to meet your needs at every level.”
Director Kathy Urquhart and Karen Payne Taylor are featued in the September “There’s Something about Andover” cable TV show talking about participation and volunteerism at the Andover Senior Center as a way to connect with the community.
“There’s Something about Andover” can be seen Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7 p.m.; Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 9 a.m. on Channel 8 (Verizon Channel 47). Produced by the Andover Chroniclers, volunteer seniors from the Andover Senior Center, it is one of Andover Community Access & Media’s longest running shows.
