Free recycling event set for Friday

Whole Foods Andover is sponsoring a free electronics collection event with M&K Recovery on Friday, Nov. 15, from noon to 6 p.m. in the store parking lot at 40 Railroad St. as part of its America Recycles Day celebration.

All personal and household electronics, including any size televisions and CRT computer monitors, cellphones and electrical wire, can be recycled for free. For any item containing a hard drive, the drive will be removed and destroyed via a shredder to ensure personal data security.

The Andover Recycling Committee will also be at the event to distribute recycling information and to help any resident who has a recycling question or is looking for an answer on how or where to cost-effectively recycle or safely dispose of items.

Final flu clinic of season on Monday

The Andover Health Division will hold its final flu clinic of the season on Monday, Nov. 18, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Center at Punchard (senior center) on Whittier Court. Flu shots will be available to ages 2 and up.

Vaccinations are provided for free, although individuals who provide insurance information will allow the Health Department to bill the provider for the costs incurred and those reimbursements will then be used to purchase vaccine for the following flu season.

The traditional intramuscular shot and the nasal spray (FluMist) will be available as well as a limited amount of high-dose vaccine for residents ages 65 and up. The FluMist is recommended for medically eligible people between the ages of 2 and 49.
