Local realtor lends support to Be Like Brit

Andover Realtor Lillian Montalto of Lillian Montalto Signature Properties and the Home Builders & Remodelers Association of Massachusetts teamed up last week to raise more than $40,000 for Be Like Brit, a nonprofit foundation established in memory of a Rutland teenager who lost her life in the January 2010 earthquake in Haiti while on a mission sponsored by Lynn University.

More than 100 people attended the Nov. 4 cocktail reception and fundraiser at Andover Country Club to support the charity started by Len and Cherylann Gengel to carry on the dream of their 19-year-old daughter, Britney Gengel, who had hoped to build an orphanage in Haiti.

Today, Be Like Brit operates the 19,000-square-foot Britney’s Orphanage in Grand Goave, Haiti. Proceeds from last week’s fundraiser will support the facility. Susan Wornick of WCVB-TV Channel 5 News, who has become an integral part of the Gengel family since covering the tragedy, served as the event’s master of ceremony.

Open house at ae Brows & Lashes

Alicia Zefta and Elvira McCloske are celebrating the opening of ae Brows & Lashes Lounge with an open house at their new facility at 168 North Main St., Unit C, on Thursday, Nov. 14, from 2 to 7 p.m.

Zefta and McCloske both have more than 25 years of experience in the industry and have represented leading cosmetic companies. Together, they hope to share their knowledge of beauty and cater to their clients’ individual needs at the new lounge.

Services at the lounge include facials, makeup application, lash extension, spray tan, hair styling and more. In addition to offering services, the pair will lead workshops for professionals on how to use the most cutting-edge techniques of the beauty trade. The owners say the objective of the workshops, open to both newcomers and professionals who want to grow their businesses, is to provide a fun learning environment where everyone will receive the skills necessary to do their own makeup like a pro.
