Spinning and dancing for Youth Center

The Andover Youth Foundation is sponsoring two fundraisers in November to help support the construction of the Andover Youth Center. Both fundraisers will be held at Yang’s Fitness Center at 5 Dundee Park.

A Dance-a-Thon will be held Friday, Nov. 15, with two sessions planned, from 7 to 8 p.m. and from 8 to 9 p.m. And a Spin-a-Thon with three, one-hour spin sessions will be held Sunday, Nov. 17, from 9 a.m. to noon.

Professional dance and spinning instructors, along with a DJ, will be on hand to help make this year’s fundraisers a success. Refreshments will be served.

A minimum $25 donation is requested of participants. Walk-ins will be allowed, space permitting. Registration forms are available at Yang’s Fitness Center and at the Andover Youth Services offices at 37 Pearson St. as well as at www.YangsFitness.com.

Strike up the bands at Phillips Academy

The Phillips Academy Music Department presents the Academy Concert Bands and ensembles under the direction of Vincent Monaco and Derek Jacoby in concert on Friday, Nov. 15, at 7:30 p.m. The program will feature the music of Antonín Dvořák, John Phlip Sousa, Karl L. King, Pavel Chesnokov and others.

The free concert takes place in Cochran Chapel located on the Phillips Academy campus, 180 Main St., Andover. The public is invited. Contact the Music Department at 978-749-4260 or e-mail music@andover.edu for more.

Going solo with North Shore Dance Alliance

Andover’s Deadfall Dance is presenting a solo piece as part of this weekend’s dance collaborative hosted by North Shore Dance Alliance at Marblehead Little Theatre in Marblehead.

Tabitha Liversidge will perform the solo piece titled “Life Unlived” choreographed by Judith Wombwell.

The program will also include works by a variety of North Shore dance companies, including North Shore Civic Ballet of Marblehead, Exit Dance Theatre of Newburyport, Forty Steps Dance of Nahant and Hyperbole Dance of Marblehead. Films by Newburyport artist Gordon Pryzbyla and Jeremiah Story of Merrimac will round out the show.
