The program is being presented by The Tannery series, a Newburyport-based community arts initiative that is adding a unique literary spin to the museum’s monthly evening gatherings. The evening will also include music, some hands-on instruction in drawing manga and a chance to view PEM’s latest exhibit, “Future Beauty: Avant-Garde Japanese Fashion.” People are encouraged to dress as their favorite characters.

Hanukkah Story Hour at Andover Bookstore

Rivka Leah and her guests will explore various aspects of Hanukkah while sharing the tale “Lots of Latkes” by Sandy Lanton at a Hanukkah Story Hour on Tuesday, Nov. 19, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Andover Bookstore, 89 Main St., Andover,

The story reading will be enhanced with songs, a Hanukkah craft, and special Hanukkah treats. The event is geared to students ages 2.9 to 6 and is being supported by a grant from the Merrimack Valley Jewish Federation. Reservations are requested by Friday, Nov. 15. Bright Horizons unveiling ArtSmart 2013

Bright Horizons at Brickstone in Andover welcomes the community to its ArtSmart 2013 Showcase on Tuesday, Nov. 19, from 3 to 6 p.m.

The show will spotlight the center’s budding artists ranging in age from 6 months through 6 years old. Bright Horizons, located at 40 Brickstone Square, aims to incorporate an art-rich culture into the creative world of the children it serves. Visiting youngsters will have the opportunity to create a masterpiece of their own to take home.

Floral note for Women of NECC tea

The Women of NECC’s annual Membership Tea will be held Tuesday, Nov. 19, at noon in the Hartleb Technology Center on the Haverhill campus, 100 Elliott St. The event will feature florist Steve Janavicus of Flowers by Steve in Bradford, who will demonstrate how he creates his unique floral arrangements. His holiday-themed arrangements will then be raffled off.
