Sheila Livermore, 81

Chatham — Sheila Livermore of Chatham, MA died peacefully Friday, August 10th. Sheila was born and raised in London, leaving in 1950 for Montreal, where she met her late husband, Ken. Work took them to Andover, MA in 1959, where they raised 2 sons Glenn and Scott. Chatham became their home in 1991 after vacationing there for many years. Always active in the community, Sheila was formerly Finance Secretary and Chairman for the Harwich United Methodist Church, Treasurer of the United Methodist Women for the RISEM District, Chairman of the Chatham Republican Town Committee, as well as a volunteer for F.I.S.H. (Friends In Service Here). Sheila loved to garden and play duplicate Bridge earning a Bronze Life Master Achievement. She also loved to travel, collect Beanie Babies and Elephants. Sheila is survived by her 2 sons, Scott and Glenn, their wives Jodi and April, and her grandchildren, Eli and Monika, as well as her sister Eileen and brother Barry his wife Brenda and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

ARRANGEMENTS: Her visitation will be held Thursday, August 16, 2012 from 5pm-8pm in the Nickerson Funeral Home, 87 Crowell Road, Chatham. Her funeral service will be held on Friday, August 17, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Harwich United Methodist Church.   • Darcy Scudder Kirk

    Andover — Darcy Scudder Kirk, 90-years-old and formerly of Andover, passed away on July 1, 2014 after a long journey with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born Darcy Scudder on March 21, 1924 in Red Bank, N.J. Her family moved a few years later to Brielle, N.J., where she was raised. Her father was an architect and her mother a real estate broker. She had two older brothers, Henry and Joseph (Jody). As a young girl, she developed a love of animals and especially horses. After high school she went to college for two years, finishing in Washington, D.C. where she obtained work at the Pentagon during the World War II years. At the end of the war, she began a two-year position with the Red Cross in the Philippines working with U.S. troops still stationed there. Before her departure for the Philippines, she was engaged to a Naval officer, Charles (Charlie) Kirk. When she returned to Washington, D.C., they were married (in 1947). Charlie chose to stay in the Navy and they began a married life of travel and relocation through the Navy. They were stationed in London (England), Virginia, California and Ohio, finally settling in Andover in 1963 when Charlie retired from the Navy. Along the way, Darcy and Charlie had four daughters, Darcy Kirk (of Hartford, Conn.), Karen Rowland (of Deerfield, N.H.), Suzanne Martin (of Napa, Calif.) and Kathleen Brown (of Green Cove Springs, Fla.).

  • Leo J. Gravell Sr., 90

    Falmouth — Leo J. Gravell Sr., of North Falmouth, died peacefully on June 30, with his family, after a short illness. He was 90. Born in Central Falls, R.I., his family moved to Everett, Mass., when he was a young boy. He was the second child of 13 brothers and sisters. He was married to Mary Ruth (Melvin) Gravell for 67 years.

    LAWRENCE — Marie Rose (Robidoux) Audy, passed away at her home surrounded by her family, after suffering a stroke in April. She was born in Lawrence and was the daughter of the late Rose A. (Betit) and Alfred Robidoux, originally of Quebec, Canada. She was predeceased by her husband of 28 years, Armand Joseph Audy, who passed away on June 28, 1976.

    North Andover, Formerly of Andover — Charles W. Schmitt

    Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on April 7, 1928, Charlie passed away on Friday morning, June 20, 2014 at the age of 86. The son of the late Frieda (Krauss) and Joseph Schmitt, Charlie was a resident of Brightview, North Andover, Mass., former resident of Andover, Mass., and longtime resident of Glen Cove, N.Y. Charlie attended Polytechnic University in Brooklyn, N.Y. and Columbia University and served in the U.S. Army where he earned the Korean Service Medal with Bronze Service Star and the United Nations Service Medal. Charlie had a passion for sailing and also designed and built sailboats. Charlie also loved to build fine furniture, a skill he learned from his father in his cabinet making shop in Brooklyn.

    Andover — Cathleen was born in Andover, Mass., and graduated cum laude from Abbot Academy. After obtaining her B.A. in English from Smith College, she received her M.A. from Boston College. Her career was full, teaching for eight years in secondary schools and later becoming the staff writer-editor for Scholastic Magazine and later Assistant to the Editor of the Norfolk District of the Massachusetts Medical Society. She married William Elmer in 1953. Their son, Edward, was born in 1958, and Mrs. Elmer turned to freelancing at home, first as a writer-editor for Ginn and Co. and Houghton Mifflin; later, as a book reviewer for the New York Times, the Boston Herald and Herald American, the Baltimore Sun, and the Washington Times.

  • Donald Woodman Fogg, 83

    Andover, MA — Donald Woodman Fogg, 83, passed away quietly at his home on May 14, 2014, of liver cancer. Donald was born on May 28, 1930 to Eleanor (Russell) and Lloyd W. Fogg in Exeter, N.H. He graduated from Dover High School and Northeastern University in Boston with an associate degree in mechanical engineering. He spent four years in the Air Force, where he became a crew chief on B-47s. When he returned to civilian life, he worked for the labs at Oak Ridge, Tenn., followed by AVCO in Wilmington, Mass., and then became a CADD/CAM applications engineer at Computervision. He was active at Trinitarian Congregational Church in North Andover, their Trinitarian Neighborhood Theatre, the church choir, Merrimack Valley Camera Club, and the 495th R.C. Squadron. He loved the outdoors, especially hiking and sailing. He was a conservation warden for the Avis land in Andover.

    Townsend — Louann (Page) and Greg Basillio, Tony and Mary Cosentino are sad to say their daughter, Laura Chambers of Townsend, wife of the late Robert Chambers, has passed away after an eight-month battle with lung cancer. She leaves behind her daughters, Sarah and Samantha; brother, Greg Basillio and his wife, Yoleida and daughter, Alexandra. She also leaves her brothers, Joseph, John and sister, Jennifer Cosentino; her loving companion, Sal Finocchiaro and longtime friend, Merideth Robinson.
