Mr. James Michael Shea, a resident of Northampton, formerly of Andover and husband of Carolyn B. (Anderson) Shea, died at the Calvin Coolidge Nursing Center in Northampton on Monday morning, April 23, 2012. He was 70 years old.
Born in Norwich, Connecticut, Mr. Shea was the son of the late Michael and Catherine (Redden) Shea. He was a graduate of the Norwich Free Academy in Norwich, Fairfield University and Boston College, earning his Masters Degree. An avid Red Sox, Patriots and NASCAR fan, Mr. Shea enjoyed playing golf in his younger years and always loved listening to music, especially Bruce Springsteen.
Besides his wife, Carolyn, whom he married on July 10, 1965, James will be very sorely missed by his loving children; Christopher J. Shea and his wife Katharine A. Higgins-Shea of Belchertown and Alyson and her husband Captain Jeffrey A. Gilberg of Ft. Drum, New York, five grandchildren; Ava and Ryan Shea and Evelyn, Jacob and James Gilberg. He was also the loving father of the late Jamie Shea.
ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral service will be celebrated in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover, Saturday, April 28, 2012, at 1:15 PM. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend. Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 27, 2012, from 4 to 8 PM. Burial will be in the West Parish Garden Cemetery in Andover.
