METHUEN — Elsie E. (Ead) Faris Mansor, 84, of Methuen, entered into eternal life, Monday, Aug. 16, 2010, at her home, surrounded by her loving and devoted children.
The daughter of the late Kalil and Mary (Ziady) Ead, Elsie was born in Lawrence on Aug. 10, 1926. She attended Lawrence schools and was a graduate of Lawrence High School. She attended the McIntosh School of Business. She was employed as a secretary for Supreme Cleaners and during World War II, as a secretary at Fort Devens. After her marriage, she was a homemaker, raising her family, and was co-owner of Everybody's Market in Lawrence and Moray's Bakery in Salem, N.H. She was also one of the preparers of Arabic Food at the former Bishop's Restaurant in Lawrence. She was a very devout and active member of St. Anthony's Maronite Catholic Church in Lawrence. She was a member and past president of St. Anthony's Sodality, member and past vice-president of the daughters of St. Anthony, and a member and past president of St. Basil's Ladies Guild. She was a very active member of the former St. Laurence O'Toole School P.T.A. She was asked to co-chair, with her late husband, George Faris, the first annual Mahrajan, 39 years ago at St. Anthony's Church in Lawrence. She received the Silver Massabki Award from the Eparchy of St. Maron in 1998. She was a longtime volunteer at Caritas Holy Family Hospital.
Her contagious smile brought joy and hope to everyone she met. She was devoted to her family and Church. She enjoyed cooking for family and friends and at special church events. She traveled extensively, and enjoyed shopping with her daughter.
The family would like to sincerely thank our family physician and dear friend, Dr. Vartan Yeghiazarians for the kind and loving care given to our Mother. We would also like to thank the staff of Nevins Rehabilitation Center and the Beacon Hospice for their kind and gentle care given to our Mother.
The widow of the late George A. Faris, who died in 2001, Elsie is survived by her husband, George E. Mansor of Methuen; two sons, Rt. Rev. Archimandrite Leonard C. Faris, pastor of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church of Lowell, and Michael G. and his wife Anne Marie Faris of Andover; a daughter, Paula M. (Faris) Brooks and her husband J. Bradford Brooks of Haverhill; two granddaughters, Erika M. and her husband Jason Benjamin of Salem, Mass. and Andrea M. Faris of Andover; a brother, Fred T. and his wife Anim Ead of Lawrence; several nieces and nephews; five step-children and their families. She was also the sister of the late Alma Habib of Methuen.
ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral Mass will be held Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010, at 11:30 a.m. in St. Anthony Maronite Catholic Church, 145 Amesbury St., Lawrence. Burial will follow in St. Anthony Cemetery, Methuen. Relatives and friends may call Friday, Aug. 20, 2010, from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. at St. Anthony Maronite Catholic Church, 145 Amesbury St., Lawrence. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Elsie's Memory may be made to St. Anthony Maronite Catholic Church, 145 Amesbury St., Lawrence, MA 01841; St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, 44 Bowers St., Lowell, MA 01854; or to the American-Lebanese Awareness Association, P.O.
