Louis Halberstadt, 82 of North Andover died peacefully at the Meadows Nursing Center Tuesday morning April 17, surrounded by his wife Thelma and their loving family.
Mr. Halberstadt was born in Brooklyn, NY and raised in New Hyde Park, NY. A graduate of Clarkson University, and also earned an M.BA at Boston University. He spent his career as a chemical engineer in the plastics industry. He received patents for polyurethane manufacturing processes through collaborations with Monsanto, Acushnet Company and Amesbury Industries.
A resident of Massachusetts for over 50 years, he formerly resided in New Bedford and Andover. Mr. Halberstadt was an avid stamp collector and excelled at family travel planning; having travelled extensively wife his wife throughout the world.
He is survived by his High School sweetheart and wife of 61 years, Thelma(Levitt); his children, Caren & her husband Arthur Hughes, Rendi & her husband Joseph Mann-Stadt, and Minda & her husband Richard Reidy; and six grandchildren, Chailee, Jessica, Tracie, Michael, Maris, and Matthew.
ARRANGEMENTS: Services at Temple Emanuel 7 Haggetts Pond Road (off Route 133) Andover on Thursday, April 19, at 1 p.m. Interment will be private.
