HARWICH — John J. Daly, formerly of Andover and North Chelmsford, died in Harwich on December 17, 2011. He was the son of the late Martin W. and Dorothy V. (Cederberg) Daly. He was 63-years-old.
Mr. Daly was born in Lawrence on June 23, 1948. He was a graduate of Andover High School and received a B.A. from the University of Maine and M.A. from Tufts University. Mr. Daly retired from the Greater Lawrence Regional Vocational Technical High School as a guidance counsellor.
He was a mentor to a generation of Vo-Tech students and in retirement remained involved in their post-graduate careers and welfare. An avid sports fan, he also had a keen interest in American history.
He is survived by a brother, Martin W. Daly, of Wappingers Falls, N.Y.; a sister, Dorothy, and her husband Walter Marshall of Reading; his niece, Victoria Marshall of Reading; and nephew, Gregory Marshall of North Reading.
ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Augustine Church, 43 Essex Street, Andover, on Friday, December 30, 2011, at 10 AM. Calling hours will be held at the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover, on Thursday, December 29, 2011, from 5 to 8 PM. Burial will be at Ridgewood Cemetery in North Andover.
