Biddeford, ME, and Andover — John Redmond Cox, 71, of Biddeford, Maine, and Andover, formerly of Wakefield, Mass., passed away on April 3, 2013, at Massachusetts General Hospital.
After graduating Saint Francis High School in Biddeford, Maine, in 1958, he attended Merrimack College, where he captained the men’s tennis team and graduated in 1963. After his honorable discharge he graduated from Suffolk University Law School in 1973 and later earned a Masters in taxation from Boston University Law School in 1977.

In 1987, he began a private law practice, specializing in tax and bankruptcy law, in the Andovers, where he worked until his retirement in 2006. Famous for his homemade Friday night pizza, John loved his family and the Maine coast. His perfect day would include the New York Times, a run, swim or bike ride, time to brag about his grandchildren, and a Patriots victory celebrated with a cold bottle of Sierra Nevada.
