Andover, MA — Edwin Goonyep of Andover, MA, died peacefully in his longtime home on Foster's Pond, Sunday evening July 29, 2012, in the company of his wife of 45 years, Judy.
Ed was born in Lynn, MA, and graduated from Lynn English HS class of 1952. He attended Franklin Tech and worked in the electronics and semiconductor industry for most of his career, except for the ten years he ran his own marine electronics business in Marblehead.
Ed had many hobbies and was active in several organizations. He held his amateur radio license (Ham) for almost 60 years, call sign W1CUO, and was president of the North Shore Repeater Association, as well as the communications officer for the Andover Civil Defense. Photography was another love, the one that brought Judy and him together, and they competed in print competitions at the Greater Lynn Camera Club. In the early 1960s he ran several rallies with the Touring Club of New England, driving different types of sports cars. Ed was also a life member and range safety officer of the Andover Sportsmen's Club.
The many household dogs will miss their "Uncle Ed," and his beloved dog Kenna will especially miss her "Dad." Judy will sorely miss all his help and support.
In addition to his wife, Ed is survived by his brother-in-law Bob Davis of Seminole, FL, and six nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: At Ed's request, there will be no services. Donations in his memory may be made to the American Radio Relay League (ARRL).
