LAWRENCE — Josephine A. Kiezulas, 93, of Lawrence, died Monday, Aug. 16, 2010, at Caritas Holy Family Hospital in Methuen.
The daughter of the late Charles and Anna (Garsechka) Kiezulas, Josephine was born in Lawrence on Aug. 13, 1917. She was educated in Lawrence schools and was a graduate of Lawrence High School, Class of 1935. She was a graduate of the Lawrence General Hospital School of Nursing. She received her Registered Nurse's certification from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Josephine's early nursing career included working with Dr. Charles Schepens, founder of the Schepens Eye Research Institute, Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary in Boston. Following years included private duty nursing, Lawrence General Hospital and for many years at former Bon Secours Hospital, now Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, from where she retired.
She is survived by her brother, Adam Andrew Kiezulas of Peabody, formerly of Reading; her nieces and nephews, Barbara Laughton of Shrewsbury, Charles Kiezulas of Kennebunkport, Maine, Mary Mallett of Reading, Elaine Peabody of Reading, Laura Rex of Andover, John Kiezulas of Andover, Kathryn Noonan of Cambridge, Patricia Noonan of Bradford, and Maureen Noonan of Ratingen, Germany; and also many grand and great-grandnieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Lillian V. Noonan of Haverhill; and the aunt of the late Anne Surette of Reading, the late Thomas Kiezulas of Reading, and the late Sheila Noonan of Haverhill; and the great-aunt of the late Andrew Mallett of Reading.
ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral Mass will be held Friday, Aug. 20, 2010 at 10 a.m. in Holy Rosary Church — Corpus Christi Parish, Essex Street, Lawrence. Burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Lawrence.
