Harry Bernard Caplan, 82, of Boynton Beach, FL, formerly of Andover, died Thursday morning April 12, 2012 at Parkside Inn Assisted Living in Boynton Beach.
Born in Lawrence and raised in Methuen, Mr. Caplan attended Proctor Academy and Boston University. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and worked as an executive in his family’s former supermarket chain, Samson Foods, for many years before continuing his career as an insurance underwriter. He was also formerly a volunteer for SeniorNet at Bethesda Memorial Hospital and a member of Temple Emanuel.
Mr. Caplan was the devoted husband of Helen Kaliner Caplan. He is the beloved father of Paula, and Sheri & her husband Kenneth Merkatz, the adored grandfather of Danyel, Emanuel, Clarisa, and Samuel, as well as loving brother of Judith Lee.
ARRANGEMENTS: Services will be held at Temple Emanuel Cemetery in Lawrence on Monday morning, April 16 at 11:00 am. A bereavement luncheon will be held at the Chateau of Andover following the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Temple Emanuel, Andover, MA 01810.
