Venice, FL — Thomas J. Dye, 87, of Venice, Fla., and longtime resident of Andover, died on May 3, 2013. Born in Columbus, Ohio, Thomas was in the Naval ROTC Air Corps at the University of Virginia and was discharged after WWII ended. Following the war, he matriculated at Ohio Wesleyan University where he met his wife, Patricia.
Tom built his business career in the shoe industry; his specialty was in the design of heel and last manufacturing. He traveled extensively in Germany and Italy for international trade shows. He retired as Vice President of Sterling Last Co. Tom was active in the Andover community serving as a trustee of South Church, Boy Scout Commissioner, and Little League coach and umpire.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Dynes); daughters, Susan Jenkins and husband, Roger, of Andover, Margaret Cuneo and husband, Robert, of Andover; and sons, Thomas and wife, Robin, of Salem, N.H., and Charles and wife, Jennifer, of Salem, Conn. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services were held in Venice, Fla. A private commitment ceremony will be held in July at West Parish Cemetery.
