Andover — David Lawrence Vaughan, 40, of Andover, passed away early Friday morning, September 27, 2013, following a car accident. A devoted husband, David leaves behind his best friend, wife and true soul mate, Kristen McDevitt Vaughan. He was a hands-on and loving father of their three children, Colin, 8, Kevin, 6, and Caroline, 3.
In addition to being a devoted husband and caring father, David was a loving son, loyal brother, and amazing friend to countless people. He was the son of Lawrence and Lorna Vaughan of North Andover, and he was the sixth of their eight children.
There has been an irreplaceable void left in the Vaughan family.
Dave was born July 2, 1973. He was raised, and lived most of his life, in North Andover. He attended Saint Michael's Grammar School in North Andover, was a 1991 graduate of Saint John's Prep and a 1995 graduate of Boston College. Dave worked for years in the seafood industry and was very well respected by all with whom he did business.
Dave will be forever missed by his siblings, Timothy and Celeste Vaughan, Kristen Vaughan and her boyfriend, Jim Tedstone, Kelly and Raoul Lavoie, Brian and Courtney Vaughan, Kathleen and Jim Saalfrank, Kara and Sully Grella, his little brother and best man, Dan Vaughan and Dan's girlfriend, Andrea Paquette.
In addition, David leaves behind his treasured in-laws, James and Marilyn McDevitt of Marshfield; his brothers-in-law, whom he cherished, Tim and Aimee McDevitt and Brian and Kristie McDevitt.
David also leaves behind 20 adoring nieces and nephews, Joshua, Michaela, Madison, and Chase Lavoie, Harrison, Katherine, TJ, and Owen Vaughan, Gabrielle Beaulieu, Matthew, Ethan and Connor Grella, Kameron, Kallie and Jake Saalfrank, and Kyle, Kayla, Andrew, Jake and Makenzie McDevitt.
If you knew David you were truly blessed. Dave was the epitome of all that is kind and good. He greeted everyone with his twinkling eyes and welcoming smile. David was always even keeled and upbeat. He was eternally optimistic and truly embraced life.
That infectious and genuine laugh unique to David will never be forgotten.
ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours were held from 3 to 8 p.m., at St. Michael's Church, on Tuesday, October 1. A Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, October 2, at 10 a.m., at St. Michael's, 196 Main Street, North Andover. Burial followed at Ridgewood Cemetery in North Andover.
