ANDOVER — Wallace E. Turgiss, 88, of Andover, and Tequesta, Fla., passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 in Palm Beach, Fla., surrounded by his devoted family.
Originally from Woburn, he was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He served in the Air Force Strategic Air Command attaining the rank of Buck Sergeant, Airman First Class. As a crew chief, he flew gasoline over the Himalayas to China. His favorite hobbies included golf, boating, gardening, and carpentry. He was a member of the Woburn Elks and Tequesta American Legion.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gloria B. Turgiss of Andover; son, Keith W. Turgiss of Las Vegas; son, Bruce E. Turgiss of Burlington; daughter, Lorna A. Fairess of Lumberton, N.J. Other survivors include many dear nieces and nephews and six grandchildren, Krystal L. Turgiss, Eric M. Fairess, Nicholas W. Turgiss, Blake A. Fairess, Oksana D. Turgiss, and Connor N. Fairess.
