Andover — Joseph Francis Grillo, age 85, of Hollis, N.H. and formerly of Andover and New York, died on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at Community Hospice House in Merrimack, N.H. surrounded by his family.
He was born in New York City on July 5, 1927, son of the late Anthony and Francesca (Occupinti) Grillo. He graduated from the University of Miami, after serving in the Navy during World War II. He played minor league baseball for a time in a New Jersey farm league.
Joseph had a long and successful career in the field of chemical sales. He enjoyed baseball, football, and most sports, especially golf. He was a long-time member of Indian Ridge Country Club in Andover. His greatest pleasure was spending time with his family which he was most proud of.
He was predeceased three weeks earlier by his beloved wife, Mary. He was also predeceased by his daughter, Judith Grillo.
He is survived by his daughter, Mary Jo Marcely and her wife, Carol Marcely of Amherst, N.H.; his son, Dr. Joseph Grillo, Jr. and his wife, Dr. Iulia Grillo of Barrington, R.I.; two grandsons, Jesse Grillo and his wife, Julia of South Carolina, and Joseph Grillo III of Rhode Island; and one niece.
ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday, February 5, at St. Patrick’s Church, 29 Spring Street in Nashua. Interment followed at St. Louis de Gonzague Cemetery, 752 West Hollis Street in Nashua.
