Floresville, TX — Cathleen (Burns) Elmer passed away on December 11, 2013. She was born in Andover, Mass., and educated at Abbot Academy, from which she graduated cum laude. An honor graduate of Smith College (A.B. in English) and Boston University (A.M. in English), she taught English, dramatics and Spanish for eight years in Massachusetts and Connecticut secondary schools. After World War II, she entered a national writing-editing contest sponsored by Mademoiselle magazine. Informed by the magazine in 1947 that she was one of the contest’s “top and best” finalists, she left teaching for New York and a job as staff writer-editor at Scholastic Magazines. She returned to Boston in 1952 to assume a dual editorial and management role as Assistant to the Editor of Massachusetts Physician, and as Executive Secretary of the Norfolk District of the Massachusetts Medical Society.Continued ...

Ray was born in North Andover, Massachusetts on January 2, 1933, to the late Raymond Edward and Elizabeth Irene Lewis. He is survived by his wife, Judy Goen-Lewis and his daughters, Carol Ann Cohn and Irene Elaine Lewis. He is also survived by his grandsons, Aaron and Matthew Cohn and Canyon Lewis; his granddaughters, Misty-Dawn Sundseth and Iris LewisThorne and his great-granddaughter, Lillian Jules Sundseth. Buster was an avid fisherman and skin diver for most of his life and he was the President of the Richmond Pelicans for many years. Buster also enjoyed once a month gambling trips to Tahoe where he played blackjack and used the birthdates of his grandchildren to play keno. He was proud to say he often broke even. Buster was also a mechanical engineer who was incredibly handy. Every vehicle he purchased he made sure to convert to have a bed.
