  • Donald Woodman Fogg, 83

    Andover, MA — Donald Woodman Fogg, 83, passed away quietly at his home on May 14, 2014, of liver cancer. Donald was born on May 28, 1930 to Eleanor (Russell) and Lloyd W. Fogg in Exeter, N.H. He graduated from Dover High School and Northeastern University in Boston with an associate degree in mechanical engineering. He spent four years in the Air Force, where he became a crew chief on B-47s. When he returned to civilian life, he worked for the labs at Oak Ridge, Tenn., followed by AVCO in Wilmington, Mass., and then became a CADD/CAM applications engineer at Computervision. He was active at Trinitarian Congregational Church in North Andover, their Trinitarian Neighborhood Theatre, the church choir, Merrimack Valley Camera Club, and the 495th R.C. Squadron. He loved the outdoors, especially hiking and sailing. He was a conservation warden for the Avis land in Andover.

    Townsend — Louann (Page) and Greg Basillio, Tony and Mary Cosentino are sad to say their daughter, Laura Chambers of Townsend, wife of the late Robert Chambers, has passed away after an eight-month battle with lung cancer. She leaves behind her daughters, Sarah and Samantha; brother, Greg Basillio and his wife, Yoleida and daughter, Alexandra. She also leaves her brothers, Joseph, John and sister, Jennifer Cosentino; her loving companion, Sal Finocchiaro and longtime friend, Merideth Robinson. We want to thank so many special friends: Interactive Data, Lahey Hospital, Kaplan Hospice House and loving family members for their continuous support during this difficult time.

  • Dorothy Lowe (Santuccio) Bresnahan, 95

    Andover, MA — Dorothy Lowe (Santuccio) Bresnahan, 95, of Andover, died on Sunday, April 27. Born Aug. 1, 1918 to the late John E. and Ida (Stoddard) Lowe, the youngest of six children. “Dot” as she was known all her life, grew up in Lawrence, and graduated from the Essex Agricultural School in 1935. She and her first husband, Frank Santuccio, raised their six children in Andover. Several years after his death, Dot married Bernie Bresnahan and created a loving family of 10 adult children. Dot was well-known to many in the town of Andover. She was the Director of Volunteers at Lawrence General Hospital for many years, and an administrative assistant for Andover Pediatrics until her retirement. After her retirement, she devoted her time to numerous volunteer activities, including Hospice of Merrimack Valley, The Camp Fire Girls, The American Red Cross, and The Andover Senior Center. She was the recipient of many awards for outstanding service, including The Virginia Cole Community Service Award in 2006, official citations of recognition and congratulations from the Massachusetts State Senate and House of Representatives, The Counsel on Aging Shining Star Award in 2006, and a Certificate of Appreciation from the Andover Triad Council in 2007. All were in recognition of the countless hours and absolute dedication to the cause of improving the life of senior citizens in Andover.

    Andover — L. Ruth Grant, 89, of Andover, and formerly of Roslindale, died on Thursday, May 1, 2014. She was born on Sept. 16, 1924 in Cornwall, England to Hollyberry Ferris and John Goldsworthy. She graduated from Mass Memorial School of Nursing and worked as a registered nurse for nearly 60 years, most recently at The Boston City Hospital and the Hebrew Rehabilitation Center for the Aged in Roslindale. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Donald Grant. She is survived by her children, Donald and Emily Grant of Andover, James Grant of Dedham, Julie and Jay McLeod of Andover, Holly and Howard Senecal of Malden, and 10 grandchildren.

    Merrimac, MA — Sandy entered into eternal peace at home in Tennessee on April 11. She was born in Malden, Mass., and went to Haverhill and Pentucket schools. She worked at AT&T in North Andover, at the shoe shop and nursing homes in Haverhill, and lastly at Danville store in Danville, N.H. Sandy moved to Tennessee in 2011 to welcome the birth of her first grandchild. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jennifer Carr; father, Roland Gurley, and grandparents, Virginia and Edson Peck. She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her husband of 31 years, John Wagoner; son, Brandon Wagoner and his wife, Shannon; grandson, Derek; parents, Robert and Elaine Leatham; aunts, Sharon (Arthur) Benjamin, Nancy (Ed) Hamilton, Gloria Crumel, Ruth McKewen, and Uncle Charlie Peck. Also, several cousins, nieces, nephews, loving in-laws and a host of longtime friends.

    Andover — Carolyn Smith Hazlett, 71, loving mother, sister, aunt and friend, lost her battle with cancer on Thursday, March 27, 2014. As the second oldest of a family with eight children, caring and responsibility was inherent to Carolyn and it was a natural transition for her when she decided to go to nursing school. Graduating from St. Luke’s School of Nursing in New Bedford in 1965, Carolyn dedicated the next 40 years of her life to caring for and advocating for others. Carolyn loved people, in her own words, “People are what I am all about."

    Brunswick, ME — Lillian Zachrisson Pease, 84, died peacefully on April 12, 2014, in Brunswick, Maine. Lillian was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on March 7, 1930, daughter of Carroll and Lillian Zachrisson. She graduated from Boston Girls’ Latin School in 1947 and from Wellesley College, Phi Beta Kappa, in 1951. Beginning post-graduate work at Union Theological Seminary that fall and doing field work at the East Harlem Protestant Parish, she met Frederic A. Pease, Jr., whom she married on June 20, 1953.

    Amherst, MA — Marina Kachulis - beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away Monday, April 7, at her home in Amherst, Mass. Born in New York City and orphaned at six with her two younger siblings at the height of The Depression, she was raised by various relatives until the age of 17, when she brought the family together and helped her father raise the two younger children. After graduating as the Valedictorian from Girls High School in Brooklyn, she went to work to help support the family. Marina married the love of her life, Bill Kachulis, in 1949. They recently celebrated their 65th anniversary. She is survived by her husband, Bill; sons, Jimmy and Nick; and grandchildren, Chris, Demetri, Maria Terese and Anye; and daughters-in-law, Anne Moriarty and Martha Zorn.

Beloved grandfather of Todd Spencer and his wife, Amy, of Portsmouth, NH, Amy Spencer Delemus of Dover, NH, Lauren (Spencer) Corbett and her husband, Patrick, of Billerica, MA, Evan Spencer and his wife, Courtney, of Billerica, MA, Jeffrey Prior of Boston, MA, Steven Prior of New York City, and Rachel Spencer and Emily Spencer of Merrimack, NH. Proud great-grandfather of Stella and Jack Spencer and Reid and Will Corbett. He is also survived by his shining light and loving companion, Lillian Gunning of North Reading, MA.
