Letter: Wilson would keep no-nonsense voice in senate

Wilson would keep no-nonsense voice in senate

Editor, Townsman:

Now that we are in mid-August and the legislative session ended July 31, we are starting to prepare for the next step for Andover's future. State Sen. Sue Tucker is retiring at the end of this year; she has served her district with distinction and is known for having been a strong voice for Andover. As a selectman, I knew I could call on her or one of her staff to answer any question or concern. This type of representation is not the norm. Frankly, we have been spoiled. She would come before the three boards in Andover at any time. Annually, she would give us honest update of where the town stood on state aid; no nonsense.

Now, in a couple weeks, on Tuesday, Sept. 14, we have a chance to keep Andover's voice strong in the state senate. We have three people running from Andover alone. However, there is only one candidate that has the experience to carry on her legacy, Jack Wilson. He is a native of the Merrimack Valley and lives right in town with his wife, Shari, and three children. Shari Wilson and I have worked together on school fundraisers. Jack and Shari are a team in helping Andover be a better place to live.

Jack Wilson was a legislative aide to Sen. John O'Brien, who served before Sue Tucker and he knows how to take care of constituent concerns. On legislative issues, he supports reducing the sales tax increase and the alcohol tax increase. I hope when people are looking to see who is going to speak on Andover's behalf at the State House that people take a look at Jack Wilson.
