O'Donoghue's financial knowledge an asset

Editor, Townsman:

Having observed how seriously Mary O’Donoghue has taken her Finance Committee responsibilities over the years, I am pleased that she is running for a seat on the Board of Selectmen. Mary’s knowledge of the intricacies of the town’s budget process, including the pension and other post-employment benefits (OPEB) issues, will enable her to point out the financial consequences of policy decisions being considered by the board.

When considering an issue, Mary does not just look at the numbers; she also considers the benefit to the community. While her tendency is to be fiscally conservative, she has supported items ranging from the fireworks to the Reichhold open space land acquisition because of their contribution to the character of the community.

By running for public office, Mary O’Donoghue is offering to devote hundreds of hours annually working for us as our new selectman. Let’s take her up on this offer by voting for her on March 25.
