Letter: Finegold reaches across aisle

The Andover Townsman

---- — Editor, Townsman:

As a resident of Andover, I have seen the hard work and common sense approach that State Sen. Barry Finegold has used while fighting for our community. He grew up here and has been a relentless advocate for our community for the 17 years he has served the town of Andover. His office is responsive to the needs of constituents, and he and his staff are accessible and a constant presence in the district.

Finegold has proven himself an independent voice on Beacon Hill, working across the aisle on important issues. This year, he led a bipartisan effort with Republican Sen. Bruce Tarr to freeze the unemployment insurance rate, saving small businesses over $200 per employee. He understands that a good idea is a good idea, regardless of who proposed it, and he always has Andover’s best interest at the forefront.

As our state senator, Finegold gets the job done. He fought to ensure that we in Andover received our fair share of state funding, and as a result, this year we received the largest allocation of education funding in the town’s history. We benefit from his hard work and need his independent vote to continue to be our voice in the state legislature. Finegold has earned my support as our state senator, and I urge you to vote for him on Nov. 6.
