Letter: Shawsheen School support about more than the fear of change

Shawsheen support about more than the fear of change

Editor, Townsman:

With all the reporting on the "new Bancroft" and closing of Shawsheen School, there has been little talk about the loss to Andover.¬

Shawsheen is an educational experience that few in Andover get to experience, but none forget.¬ It's a small community school where everyone knows your name after the first week of school.¬ The building may be old and expensive to run but the community that we are losing by closing Shawsheen is not replaceable.¬ Although I understand in this economic climate, the argument to keep Shawsheen open is lost in the numbers, I still have a heavy heart that future students in Andover will not have the opportunity to attend and experience Shawsheen.¬

Thanks to everyone for the memories and do not think that you will be forgotten.¬
