Letter: Help Iraq refugees living locally

Help Iraq refugees living locally

Editor, Townsman:

Currently living in Lowell are 30 or so families who are political refugees from Iraq. They were relocated after their lives were threatened for assisting the US in the Iraq War. Their material needs are many, clothing for all ages babies through adults, furniture, appliances, jobs, transportation, and more. They also need support learning English, and "partners" who can show them how to navigate in an American system and culture that is alien to them.

If you are looking for a meaningful opportunity to help people in dire need, contact Andover resident Mary Todd of the organization Merrimack Valley People for Peace at mtodd75@comcast.net. More information is available at merrimackvalleypeopleforpeace.org/refugees.htm.
