I want to applaud our Tewksbury neighbors for their overwhelming Town Meeting rejection of the proposed zoning change to permit a gaming operation in their community. It was a courageous vote of their heads and hearts to reject this “fool’s gold” opportunity, as one Tewksbury resident called it.
The Ames Pond Corporate Center office park is a real gem for the Tewksbury community and taxpayers. I suggest that both Tewksbury and Andover town officials work together to find suitable businesses to fill any open space in that park. Yes, Tewksbury will get the tax revenues for any successes attracting the types of businesses desired for that park, but both Andover and Tewksbury will benefit from the jobs created, and that’s a win‐win for both towns and it will help prevent future “fool’s gold” scams for that choice location.
