I heartily agree that litter is a major problem around town and, although we are so proud of our town in many ways, we do not seem to mind the trash everywhere! I think we can lead by example like Christopher Lord did last summer when he took over the high school and instituted a litter pickup of the fields. Sanborn Elementary has regular litter pickups, but we need all schools to follow suit and a townwide volunteer group in place to meet twice a year (spring and fall) to take certain “pockets” of town like High Plain Road and conquer the issue.
Thanks for raising my awareness that this is not just an environmental issue, but a public health issue as well. In pickups I have done, there has been evidence of drugs and alcohol behind both the high school and elementary schools.
