The Andover Townsman
---- — Editor, Townsman:
I wish you all could have been there! We traveled to Washington, D.C. for the great March for Life held on Jan. 25. The excitement was palpable as we boarded our bus on a Wednesday night - 55 eager and passionate local pilgrims.
This was the 40th commemoration witness of the tragic legalization of abortion. A number that is very significant in the Bible in marking trials and struggles. Moses and the Israelites wandered in the desert for 40 years. We’ve had the scourge of legal abortion on our land for 40 years. But now is the time for change. We will work harder, trust in the Lord more, and pray more fervently for God to change hearts and minds and place His healing hand on our nation. We need Him to expose the mountain of lies that target our young women (i.e. that abortion helps women), and to open the eyes of the culturally blind who refuse to see what abortion really is.
A sign of hope and honest surprise is that this year’s news outlets actually used “hundreds of thousands” of protesters in its reporting on the March instead of the usual understated figures. They are finally acknowledging our vast numbers each January in the nation’s capital who plead for the rights of unborn human beings. And hundreds of thousands they were – an ocean of humanity coming out in what was expected to be a bitter cold day. What a witness!
Amazingly, young people make up the bulk of the marchers in Washington. These young people get it. They can see the evil that permeates from the abortion industry. They understand that no one, especially one’s own mother, should take the life of an innocent preborn baby.
Prayer can move mountains. Join us. I dream and pray for the day when every unborn child is welcomed and protected in law. Please courageously stand with us in this great human rights battle – the babies need your voice!
