Optima Synchro launches new season

---- — Optima Synchro dominated the field at the recent New England Junior/Senior Championship in Beverly. The newly formed Merrimack Valley-based club took home six gold medals and one silver.

The following team members placed in the top of their categories:

Senior Solo: Gold, Lindi Schroeder of Andover

Junior Team: Gold, Kimberly Feng, Melissa Zhang, Georgina Hutchison and Lindi Schroeder, all of Andover; Jennifer Li of Concord, Jillian Bohrer of North Andover, Lily Zemelko of Derry, N.H., and Anna Barnes of Ipswich

Junior Trio: Silver, Georgina Hutchison, Jillian Bohrer and Lily Zemelko

Junior Duet: Gold, Melissa Zhang and Kimberly Feng; fourth, Anna Lang, Jennifer Li

This weekend, the swimmers compete in the East Zone Senior/Junior Championship in Binghamton, N.Y.

Under the direction of head coach Svetlana Malinovskaya, Optima Synchro team members, who range in age from 6 to 19, practice three to four hours a day, three to five days a week at local pools. Swimmers of all abilities are welcome to apply for membership.

The team will perform its annual synchro show for locals on Saturday, March 22, at 6 p.m. at Greater Lawrence Technical School on River Road in Andover. Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and $10 for students. For tickets or more information, visit
