An Andover father of three killed in an accident last year was remembered last week by the Merrimack College Athletic Department during a men’s hockey game at the school.
A special pre-game tribute was held in David Vaughan’s memory before the school faced off against the University of New Hampshire last Friday night.
Almost $12,000 — a portion of proceeds from ticket sales as well as the money raised through a silent auction and raffle — was donated to the David L. Vaughn Children’s Trust.
Before the game, event organizer Matt Deschamps and Merrimack College Director of Athletics Jeremy Gibson presented a check to the young children of Vaughan and his wife, Kristin — Colin, Kevin and Caroline, who were accompanied on the ice by Vaughan’s brother Dan Vaughan.
Vaughan was killed in an early-morning accident on Interstate 93 in Andover last September while on his way to work. The devoted husband and father was 40.
