Dustin Hunt isn’t the only local to go up against the Red Sox in the early days of spring training.
Former Andover High star John Hennessy was on the Boston College team that faced the reigning World Series champions during last Thursday’s double-header against two Beantown colleges in Fort Myers, Fla.
In fact, Hennessy scored one of Boston College’s two runs, splitting the game between first and third base. Despite his efforts, the Eagles fell to the Red Sox 5-2.
On Sunday, it was time for Andover’s Mike Yastrzemski, the grandson of Hall of Famer Carl Yastrzemski and a prospect for the Baltimore Orioles, to do battle with the Red Sox. Yastrzemski went 0 for 1 with a walk and run scored in a spring training game.
