Andover's Bill O'Brien, the New England Patriots offensive coordinator, isn't the only Andoverite to travel to Indianapolis this winter for a prestigious sporting event.
O'Brien, of course, is there for the premiere American sporting event of any year, the Super Bowl, to be played this Sunday.
But last month, five top 11-12 and 13-15 age group members of the Andover/North Andover YMCA's ANA Synchro team joined others elite swimmers from clubs across the nation for the National Team Training Camp held in Indianapolis. ANA Synchro athletes attending the training camp included Grace Alwan, Sophia Ju, Lindi, Schroeder, Reverie Nedde and Caitlin Klauer, all of Andover.
This event, which only a few swimmers from each team are selected to attend, based on a series of qualifications and minimum scores, prepares these young athletes for national team tryouts to be held later this spring, according to their team.
"Working with former Olympic medalist Nathalie Barthelson (Gold '96) and world champion and national team coach, Sue Nesbitt, ANA Synchro swimmers are well prepared to face their competitors at the next round of competition in May," said the release.
