Christopulos leads field hockey to emotional victory

Azita Bakhtyari notched 30 assists and five blocks to help pace Andover to a 25-15, 25-16, 25-19 victory over rival Central Catholic last Friday. Sarah Kenyon had 16 service points and four aces and Wylie Boughton added 10 kills for the winners.

Chelsea Hu recorded team-highs in kills (12) and digs (4) to help lead Andover to a 25-9, 25-10, 25-11 win over Winchester last Wednesday, Oct. 23. Addy Kennedy added 23 service points and five kills, Azita Bakhtyari had 27 assists and Rachel Schnakenberg had four blocks for the winners.

Warriors tie rivals

In a battle of state powerhouses, Maeve Awiszus won the 500 freestyle (5:13.26) and 100 backstroke (1:01.86) as Andover tied Chelmsford 93-93 last Friday. Chelmsford entered the meet 13-0 and Andover 10-1 before the tie.

Rachel Landry took the 50 freestyle, Emilee Nason took the 100 butterfly and Shannon Fitzsimmons won the 100 breaststroke for the Golden Warriors.

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY

Galat shines

Max Galat ran a 17:19 to place 23rd overall and lead Andover at the MVC cross-country meet on Saturday. The Golden Warriors finished seventh as a team (203 points).
