Roche, Stankiewicz boost softball to big win


Amy Stankiewicz singled, went to second on a walk and scored on a single by Tori Roche in the seventh for the winning run in Andover’s 12-11 victory over North Andover on Monday.

Roche and Stankiewicz each had four hits, Roche drove in four runs and Brooke Kabrie had two sacrifice flies for the winners.

Lakos starts strong

Newcomer Jake Lakos scored three goals to pace Andover in a 10-5 win over perennial power North Andover last Thursday, April 3. Football teammates Will Eikenberry and John Oteri each added two goals and Walter Pappas made eight saves for the winners.


Hunter Tyrrell scored four goals to help lead Andover to a season-opening 13-5 drubbing of archrival Central Catholic last Tuesday, April 1. Will Reardon and John Oteri each added two goals and Jake Lakos, George Cardillo and Andy Soucy scored once each for the winners.


Despite two goals for Jake Lakos, Andover lost to Westford Academy 9-5 on Saturday. Jack Wilkie, Andy Soucy and John Oteri each added single goals.

Boys Tennis

Penamatsa keeps dominating

Varun Penamatsa had to fight for a 6-4, 6-1 win at top singles to help Andover beat North Andover 5-0 on Monday. Andrew Imrie (No. 2) and Drew Rooks (No. 3) added singles wins for the Warriors.


Varun Penamatsa rallied back after losing the first set 0-6 to take the next 6-0 and the super tiebreaker 10-8 to help Andover beat Marblehead 4-1 on Friday, April 4. Aaron Edelman and Owen Plourde added a hard-fought 7-6 (7-5), 6-0 win at top doubles.


Arun Padykula fought for a 6-2, 6-4 victory at No. 2 singles to help Andover open the season by beating Billerica 5-0 last Tuesday, April 1. Varun Penamatsa took No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-0, one of four sweeps.

Warriors open in style

Samantha Camilo swept top singles 6-0, 6-0 as Andover opened its new court in style with a 5-0 win over Billerica last Tuesday, April 1. Karena Yan and Courtney Nash added wins at Nos. 2 and 3 singles to lead the winners.
