Tyler Verrette led an Andover defense that allowed just three points in the second and third quarter combined and Jack Konevich knocked down four 3-pointers on the way to 12 points as the Golden Warriors downed Methuen 65-36 on Friday.

Chris Dunn scored a team-high 16 points to lead Andover past suddenly-hot Haverhill 47-34 last Tuesday. Sam Dowden added 12 points for the winners.

Hughes pots two

Caroline Hughes scored a pair of goals as Andover rolled past Newton South 2-0 on Saturday. Mary Latona had an assist and MacKenzie Dutton registered the shutout in net.

Haut back with a bang

Catherine Haut, who recently returned to Andover from Phillips Academy, teamed with Jill Gamache and Hannah Chapman to win the long jump relay, one of three firsts for the Golden Warriors, who took second as a team at the MTCA Relays on Saturday. Cassie Kobelski, Ryan McRae and Melissa Shattuck took the shot put relay while Courtney Comeau, Gamache, Chapman, and Lizzie Kobelski won the shuttle hurdles relay.

Cassie Kobelski set a new personal best with a throw of 38-10, smashing her old PR of 36-8 3/4, as Andover bested Haverhill 69-17 last Wednesday. Hannah Ameen won the 50 dash, Jillian Gamanche took the 50 hurdles and Abby Putsis won the 300 for the Warriors.


Relay takes first

Humza Naveed, Oliver Eberth, Billy Baldwin and Matt Reardon combined to win the 4x400 relay in 3:31.76 to help Andover take fourth at the MSTCA Relays on Saturday. Eberth and Naveed also teamed with Mike Maldari and Cam Farnham to take third in the sprint medley relay while the shuttle dash and 4x200 each took fourth.

Oliver Eberth won the 300 (35.1), Humza Naveed took the 600 (1:22.4), Mike Maldari won the 2-mile (10:23.4) and they teamed with Dylan Epstein to take the 4x400 as Andover beat Haverhill 66-19 last Wednesday. Owen Focke won the 50 hurdles and Robert Perry took the 1,000 for the winners.


Caveney, Biles money from beyond the arc

Finally healthy, Olivia Biles hit four 3-pointers to finish the day with 12 points, and Devon Caveney sunk six 3’s on the way to 24 points as Andover topped Methuen 54-43 on Friday. Abby Katz was a force under the basket with 12 rebounds for the winners.

Varsity stalwarts Jackie Alois and Devon Caveney each scored 15 points in limited playing time as Andover rolled over Haverhill 70-16 last Tuesday. Talia Dellatto added 10 points, Rachael Cormier had six and Angelice Gonzalez hit two 3-pointers for the winners.

Devon Caveney hit four 3-pointers on her way to 16 points, but Andover fell to Notre Dame 50-45 last Thursday. Angelice Gonzalez added 12 points and Colleen Caveney hit two 3’s for the Warriors.


Coneeny leads win

Brett Coneeny scored two goals to lead Andover to a 3-0 victory over Billerica last Wednesday. Sean Enright scored the other goal while Colby Gilbert made 26 saves for the shutout.


Christopher, Warriors take two

Kerry Christopher (19:71), Julia Ganley (20.10) and Sara Faigel (20.13) took No. 3-5 overall as Andover downed North Andover 113-22 and Austin Prep 123-12. Nicole Ericson was right behind in sixth and Jackie Drew took 11th for the Warriors.


Camin, Shi star

Eric Shi won the 200 IM (2:08.71) and 500 freestyle (5:03.44) to help lead Andover to a 94-86 win over Haverhill on Friday. Alex Blake won the diving, Eric Zhao won the 100 freestyle and Joe Carroll took the 100 backstroke for the Warriors.

Vince Camin won the 50 freestyle and swam on the winning 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay as Andover downed North Andover 91-69 last Wednesday. Aaron Wu won the 200 freestyle and Joe Carroll took the 200 IM and swam on the 400 free relay.


Marcott pin for naught

Despite a pin by Matt Marcott in 2:23 at 126 pounds, Andover lost to Chelmsford 52-9 last Wednesday. Jack Reilly added the Warriors’ other win, a 7-7 decision at 138 pounds.
