Cremin named to Little East Winter All-Academic Team

The Little East Conference named Sheila Cremin, a junior majoring in psychology at Keene State College, to its 2012-13 Winter All-Academic Women’s Swimming/Diving Team.

To earn a spot on the squad, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.3 or higher through the 2012 fall semester and be at least a sophomore academically and athletically. The student-athlete must also be a full-time member of a varsity sport and be enrolled in its institution for a full academic year.

Residents set for another season of Bulldogs Baseball

Andover’s Jon Levenson and Eoin Machvinchey will compete for the Dean College Bulldogs baseball team this year.

The Bulldogs are coming off a successful 2012 campaign that saw them finish with a 17-13 record, according to the school.

In this the second year under Head Coach Seth Kaplan, the Bulldogs return four starters in the field and two pitchers on the mound. They welcome 24 new players to the program, including Levenson and Machvinchey.

Cairns honored by US field hockey coaches

Hamilton College student-athlete Leah Cairns of Andover was honored by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association on March 5, when the organization released its 2012 Division III National Academic Squad.

The national academic squad recognizes individuals who have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or higher through the first semester of the 2012-13 academic year.

Cairns was named to the squad in each of her four years on the field hockey team.

Quill earns gymnastics honors

Competing at the “March Madness Meet” in Wilmington, Mass. on March 17 with the A2 Girls Gymnastics Team, Andover’s Madison Quill was part of the Level 7 first-place team. Madison Quill was first on bars (9.1), fifth on floor (9.1), and fifth in the all-around with a 35.55.
