Sartor leads Andover college soccer players
Andover High girls soccer has a proud history. The Golden Warriors have won 15 of the last 21 Merrimack Valley Conference titles, including the last four straight. And Boston University's Emily Pallotta is not the only former Andover girls standout to continue her success on the pitch in the college ranks.
It didn't take Rikki Sartor long to make an impact. The freshman scored a goal in St. Anselm's season-opening 4-0 victory over Dowling last Friday.
Sartor, who graduated last spring from Andover High, was a two-sport standout for the Golden Warriors. She was a three-year letterman and two-year starter for the soccer team as a forward. But it was in tennis she made the biggest impact.
She teamed with doubles partner Kristina Black to earn back-to-back All-Scholastic honors and share the 2007 Eagle-Tribune girls tennis Player of the Year award. They won the state individual doubles title and led the Golden Warriors to the first state team tennis championship in school history last year, both over Longmeadow.
She plans to pursue both sports with the Hawks.
Mallory Jaracz, a two-year letterman at Andover High, is entering her senior season at Colby-Sawyer. Last season she played in 16 of 17 games for the Chargers, scoring a goal and adding an assist. She was also a two-sport athlete at Andover, earning Eagle-Tribune honors in skiing her senior year.
After a year with Saint Michael's, Jess Prencipe, a 2006 graduate of Andover, will be taking the field for Springfield College this season, according to Andover coach Meghan Matson. She played seven games for the Purple Knights a season ago at midfielder.
Fellow 2006 Andover grad Amy Boxell is entering her sophomore season at Earlham College in Richmond, Ind. She played in 11 of Earlham's 17 games last year.
