Round up: Percival, Andover soccer win two straight

Boys Soccer

Sam Percival scored a goal and added a pair of assists to give Andover its second straight win, a 4-1 decision over Lawrence last Thursday. Kaelan Crawford and Josh Torres each scored for the second straight game, and Alex Golan added the final Golden Warriors tally. Andrew Osborne notched three saves.



Josh Torres scored one goal and assisted on another as Andover broke into the win column with a 3-0 victory over Chelmsford last Tuesday. Kaelan Crawford and Tom Busta each scored a goal for the Golden Warriors, with Panayioti Kostakis and Alex Dumitrescu each contributing an assist. Andrew Osborne made six saves for the shutout.

GIRLS SOCCER

Caro vaults Warriors

Alex Bengston and Jenn Caro each notched a goal and chipped in an assist as Andover bested Tewksbury 3-0 last Thursday. MacKenzie Koravos scored the final goal, Satin Zarkar had a helper, and Danielle Landy and Kayla Walsh combined on the shutout.



Jess Morrow recorded a pair of goals, her third multi-goal game of the season, as Andover bested Lowell 4-2 last Tuesday. Jenn Caro scored a goal and assisted on another, and Alex Bengston had the final goal for the Warriors. Kayla Walsh made five saves for the winners.

FIELD HOCKEY

Sullivan stays hot, Warriors take two

Heather Sullivan notched her fifth consecutive two-goal game to help Andover to a 6-0 drubbing of Dracut last Thursday. Cat Gross also scored a pair of goals, and Abby Cook and Nicole Giroux each netted one for the winners. Cook, Sarah Oteri and Laura Dimitruk each contributed an assist.



Junior netminder Tameka Geaslen made a whopping 13 saves as Andover edged Chelmsford 2-0 last Monday.

"They put us on our heels and we haven't been in that position yet," head coach Maureen Noone said. "They had 10 penalty corners on us and we haven't had that for the whole year."

After a scoreless first half, Heather Sullivan struck for both Golden Warriors goals in the second half, with Laura Dimitruk and Cat Gross each assisting once.

GOLF

Hooker leads Warriors

Eric Hooker won his match with a 40 to help Andover down Dracut 12-8 on Friday. Mike Todisco, Mike Levenson and Jeff Kublin each chipped in a 41 to help lead the Golden Warriors (8-0-1).



Sean Burke won 3 and 2 to lead Andover to a 20-0 victory over Methuen last Thursday. Armando McLaughlin added a 5 and 4 win, Adam Rosenzweig took his match 2 and 1, and freshman Nicole Boudreau continued her growth by winning 5 and 4.



Dave Gilbert's 2 and 1 victory helped pace Andover in a 16-4 victory over arch rival Central Catholic last Wednesday. Mike Todisco won 5 and 4, and Eric Hooker won 3 and 1 for the Golden Warriors.



Behind Sean Burke's 3 and 2 win, Andover beat Chelmsford 15-5 last Monday. Eric Hooker added a 2 and 1 win, and Armando McLaughlin earned a 3 and 2 decision for the winners.

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY

Waller, Schumacher help Andover split

Andover's Scott Waller (17:18) and Nick Schumacher (17:27) finished No. 2 and 3 overall as the Golden Warriors edged Central Catholic 23-32, but fell to Lowell 27-31 last Tuesday. Simon Voorhees took fourth in 17:29.

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY

Totten, Andover go 1-1

Andover downed Notre Dame of Tyngsboro 15-40, but lost to Central Catholic 16-43 last Wednesday. Leah Totten (18:51) was seventh overall and Danielle Slauzis (19:08) was 11th to lead the Golden Warriors.

SWIMMING

Patterson's efforts for naught

Monica Patterson won the 200 freestyle (1:57.53), the 100 freestyle (54.64) and swam on the winning 200 medley relay team, but Andover fell to Acton-Boxboro for the second straight season, 106-80. Rachel Moore added wins in the 200 IM and 100 backstroke, and was a member of the winning relay with Patterson, Colleen Hespler and Kate Sullivan.

VOLLEYBALL

Arvidson stands out in defeat

Despite 13 kills by Kristen Arvidson, Andover fell to Methuen 25-15, 25-16, 25-10. Ariel Kuykendall added five digs for the Golden Warriors.
