The Andover Townsman

Nate weighs only 100 pounds, but his efforts for the Andover High wrestling team have been gargantuan. He has had to wrestle boys six to eight pounds heavier (weight class is 108). One of his recent highlights was a fourth-place finish at the Woburn Invitational Tournament, barely missing out on third place. Nate is also a captain. Coach Brian Caldwell’s comments: “Nate has been one of our hardest workers since the first day I started coaching last year and he continues to strive for excellence. He competes very well for himself in the MVC, which is one of the toughest leagues in the state.”

Jessica had a big game on Friday, scoring 10 points in a 53-51 loss to Chelmsford. She contributed five rebounds and the noted defender also had four steals. She also factored heavily in Andover’s win over Methuen, finishing with 19 points, seven rebounds and three steals. She will be attending High Point University in North Carolina in the fall. Coach E.J. Perry’s comments: “She is one of the best three-point shooters on the team. She’s a tough, competitive kid who fits the mold of Andover High girls basketball.”
