---- — LaBrie caps off stellar lacrosse season
Timothy LaBrie, son of Thomas and Mary LaBrie of Andover, finished his postgraduate year at Cheshire Academy in Cheshire, Conn., with a strong showing on the varsity lacrosse team. He was unanimously voted captain for the 2013 season, leading the Fighting Cats to an 11-4 record.
For Cheshire Academy, a member of NEPSAC WNESSLA Division II 15-team league, LaBrie ranked fifth in goals scored, sixth in assists and 11th in total points. The Cheshire Academy team was ranked No. 1 in the league (fourth in the state) for goals scored (206), assists (141) and total points (347), and was ranked in the top three for saves and face-off percentage.
LaBrie’s individual achievements included being unanimously selected as First Team All-League (WNESSLA Division II) midfield. He was selected for Cheshire Academy’s varsity lacrosse post-season Coaches Award for outstanding play and leadership throughout the season. He was also a finalist for the academy’s spring Trustees Award, which recognizes a student-athlete for outstanding performance, dedication, effort and scholarship during the season.
He graduated with the class of 2013 on June 8 and will attend and play lacrosse for St. Lawrence University in New York.
Boys & Girls Club Golf Tourney
The Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence will hold its annual Golf Tournament on Monday, June 17 at Indian Ridge Country Club in Andover. Players are invited for morning and afternoon flights. The cost is $250 per person and includes breakfast, lunch, open bar cocktail reception, dinner, awards, driving range, greens fees, golf cart, a dozen golf balls, complimentary gifts and entry into all contests.
This year’s tournament is dedicated to the memory of William T. “Bill” Bride Jr. Bride’s charitable and community contributions were numerous, and his family and friends are honoring his memory by rallying support for the BGCL tournament he helped to found more than 30 years ago. He was the driving force behind the Helicopter Golf Ball Drop, where the winner takes home a $2,500 cash prize.
