Gold pitching shines in North Andover tourney

The Andover Gold summer team for 8- and 9-year-olds won the championship of the North Andover Tournament by beating Tyngsboro earlier this month, and then celebrated in style with a trip to Richardson's Ice Cream.

In the championship game, Andrew Theriault pitched 4 2/3 innings allowing only 1 hit and no walks while striking out 11. Chris Rassias came in to pitch the final 1 2/3 innings to preserve the win.

The game was tied into the fourth inning when Andrew hit a two-run triple to give gold a 2-0 lead.

Louie Galligani led off the fifth with a triple and scored on a hit by Colin Kirkpatrick.
